Air Dry Modelling Clay

When you start as an air-dry modelling clay modeller, you will notice many differences between the clay you use and the one you have seen others work on. In general, this is because clay that has been used in air dry modelling has been thoroughly dried first by dipping it into the mold. This allows it to be hardened, compressed, and finally sculpted so that others can then use it. There are two types of clay used for air dried modelling. The first type is ********* of magnesium and calcium carbonate that has been finely ground into a fine powder. These clays tend to be stiffer than other types of clay and have a high tolerance to heat. The second type is called stoneware clay and is made from a mixture of aluminium oxide, copper oxide, and sulphur which have all been finely ground to a fine powder. When you are working with air dry modelling clay, you will notice that the texture and properties of the clay will tend to be much smoother and harder to work with. This is because the drying process has taken place over a long period. After the clay has been dried, it will not be soft or malleable, but it will feel more like porcelain than clay. When working with the clay, you will need to work in small batches, and when it is first dipped in the mould, it may take a couple of hours to finish one large model. It is important to note that air dry modelling clay does not melt whilst it is being dried. The kiln's heat helps seal the clay before it is placed inside the kiln for drying. As the clay dries, it will shrink a little bit until it reaches a level that is just suitable for the final drying stage, known as fi********* be firmer, and the firing process will continue until the clay is completely dry. At this point, you can remove the fired clay from the kiln and store it for future use. Learn more at https://artsuppliesaustralia.com.au/products/das-air-dry-modelling-clay
